Welcome to the first ever issue of The Kansas Creative Quarterly!
Why The Kansas Creative Quarterly? I love creating, and I love Kansas. I want others to love these things, too. The Sunflower state is home to plethora of amazingly talented people and wonderful things to do. I want to encourage Kansans (along with everybody else) to support local artists and embrace the treasures hidden right in front of them. I want people to think about the possibilities. This is my small way of showing local love.
For several years, now, I’ve felt compelled to start my own zine. The concept has undergone numerous transformations in my mind, but it is starting to manifest itself into what it was always meant to be. This first issue is a humble one–so please do be patient, I am just getting started!
The fall edition is already in the works, and I plan on it being at least twice as big. If you know of someone or something I should be featuring, visit the Submissions page or email me at thekscreative@gmail.com. I cannot do this without you!
In this edition, read about the soap-making skills of a bearded lady, learn how to make reusable bags, pickle some beets, tag a tree, and check out Wichita’s newest–and only–independent art supply shop. There’s that and more, so get comfortable and have a look around!
xoxo,
LD
